Position Overview

Mightex is looking to add a motivated Applications Scientist with a background in neuroscience and life sciences to our growing team to function as a bridge between the research community and Mightex’s sales, customer support, and product development teams.

The candidate will work as a member of our Applications and Solutions team within a larger multi-disciplinary context. The Applications Scientist will support in executing sales plans in a direct to end-user capacity, effectively identifying customers’ needs and requirements, and communicating the features and benefits of Mightex’s solutions. In addition, the candidate will work closely with Mightex’s engineering team to provide efficient technical support to current Mightex end-users. The roles and responsibilities will also include working with the product development department by supplying application feedback from customers to help define, develop, test and validate new product features.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities under the general principles established by our Applications and Solutions team:

● Engage with customers in labs to identify application requirements and work closely with Mightex’s colleagues to provide product solutions suitable for achieving the customers’ research goals;

● Use knowledge of experimental neuroscience to act as a facilitator between customer research goals and internal stakeholders, including product development, marketing and customer support teams;

● Work in a team that provides ongoing applications and technical support to existing customers;

● Participate in content generation including application notes, research paper summaries, white papers and additional customer support and marketing material;

● Handle incoming inquiries through emails and by telephone;

● Participate in visiting customer labs to provide applications expertise for both sales and support situations;

● Join Mightex’s team when participating in international trade shows, seminars, and roadshows.

Requirements

Education

● Graduate degree in Neuroscience or other life science fields with strong technical

background;

Skills

Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;

● Laboratory experience is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in optogenetics and/or calcium imaging;

● Knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, scientific instruments and microscopy systems;

● Position requires fluent computer skills. Knowledge of image acquisition and analysis software is an asset;

Excellent teamwork skills, and able to collaborate effectively across multiple departments;

● Strong organizational and management skills;

● Experience in training and mentoring is an asset;

● Ability to travel, internationally or domestically, 10-20%;

● Motivation and initiative to succeed in a fast-paced, collective environment;

● Is legally able and cleared to work in Canada.
