Position Overview

We are looking for an ambitious and capable software developer to join our team to develop application software that will enable scientists to get the most out of our market-leading research tools.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities under the general principles established by our Software Development team:

  • Work with a team of project managers, engineers and scientists, as well as our sales and marketing team.
  • Understand customers’ application needs, assess feasibility of software features created by software architectural designers, and implement feature design into software features.
  • Software coding & GUI implementation.
  • Software debugging & testing.
  • Projects can include development of both desktop applications and cloud-based server applications.
  • Provide technical support to customers on software related issues.
  • May be assigned work on different development project, and at times multiple projects in parallel.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills 

  • High proficiency in Visual C++/C# .NET development is required.
  • High proficiency in developing at least one of the following .NET GUI frameworks: Windows Forms, WPF or Xamarin/MAUI, is required.
  • Experience in developing multi-threaded applications is required.
  • Experience in interop with native win32 DLL is required.
  • Some proficiency in Python development is preferred.
  • Some experience in cloud-based server applications (e.g. using AWS or similar cloud service platform) is preferred.
  • Experience in MSI Installer is an asset.
  • Experience in application development on mobile devices is an asset.
  • Ability to learn new programming skills quickly.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skill. Must be a team player.
  • Excellent prioritization skill and experience completing deliverables with tight deadlines.
  • Experience using GIT for version control is a plus.
  • 3+ years of related work experience.

Science Communications Coordinator

Position Overview

Mightex is looking to add a motivated communications specialist with a background in neuroscience and/or life sciences to our growing team to create content to support our bridge between the research community and Mightex’s internal teams.

The candidate will work as a member of our Applications and Solutions team with an emphasis on marketing but within a larger multi-disciplinary context. The Science Communications Coordinator will be responsible for creating content in line with Mightex’s brand objectives using their science background and working closely with team members to craft an engaging, unified message across all printed and digital media platforms for our expanding research community. In addition, the candidate will work with Mightex’s engineering team to create materials such as product manuals and quick start guides, as well as manage digital resources to be used for sales and technical support purposes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities under the general principles established by our Applications and Solutions team:

  • Develop, write, and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and social media content;
  • Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social channels
  • Responsible for website content including writing and editing of materials, continually updating as needed;
  • Develop, write and edit printed materials to be used in conferences and tradeshows, such as flyers, pamphlets, and catalogs;
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of marketing campaigns;
  • Ensure that all communications and marketing material align with brand standards;
  • Maintain print and digital media archives including photos, videos, and other materials;
  • Work with team members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns;
  • Join Mightex’s team when participating in international trade shows, seminars, and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Graduate degree in Neuroscience or other life science fields, or;
  • Combination of Bachelor’s degree in Science and previous communications experience.

Skills

  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content;
  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team;
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator is a must;
  • Understand the best practices of social media channels including Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Laboratory experience is an asset. Knowledge of optogenetics, fiber photometry, and/or in vivo calcium imaging is preferable but not required;
  • Knowledge of scientific instruments, microscope setups and different imaging techniques (e.g., epi-fluorescence, confocal, 2-photon, etc.);
  • Excellent teamwork skills, and ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments;
  • Motivation and initiative to succeed in a fast-paced, collective environment;
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit customers and attend tradeshows;
  • Is legally able and cleared to work in Canada.
